MAIN DUTIES OF A KITCHEN PORTER
• Basic food preparation
• Washing up, cleaning, and clearing kitchen areas
• Unloading and storing deliveries
• Emptying bins, sweeping, and mopping floors
• Ensuring all kitchen equipment is cleaned and stored correctly
• Deep cleaning fridges and storerooms to maintain hygiene and safety standards
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
• Level 1 Food Safety Award
• Awareness of manual handling techniques
• Awareness of COSHH regulations and chemical safety
• Experience or familiarity with kitchen equipment
• Basic understanding of spoken English
DESIRABLE (NOT ESSENTIAL)
• Level 2 Health and Safety in the Workplace
• Level 2 Food Safety Award
• Experience handling sharp equipment such as knives
• Previous commercial kitchen experience

• Knowledge of kitchen equipment and cleaning procedures
• Understanding of food hygiene and health & safety
• Good communication and numeracy skills
